While exploring the nearby island village of Peng Chau, I stumbled upon a group of men deeply engrossed in a game of Chinese Chess (象棋, Elephant Chess) being played outdoors. The composition of the scene captivated me, and I could sense the collective concentration of both the players and the onlookers. I quietly captured the moment with a photograph to avoid disturbing them, which later inspired this watercolor painting.
