I created this watercolor sketch on location during a torrential rainstorm in the heart of the city. Seeking shelter beneath the Canal Road Flyover near the Wan Chai Fire Station on Hennessy Road, I settled on a ledge as rain pounded the pavement and lightning flickered across the sky. Despite the challenging conditions, I embraced the atmosphere and began to sketch and paint the scene looking toward Causeway Bay. I'm quite pleased with the results, as the stormy weather added a unique depth to the composition. Once again, I found beauty in Hong Kong's urban landscape, regardless of the weather.
