thought it was time that I gave this iconic building the full watercolour study treatment since it often appears in many of my cityscape backgrounds. While not the tallest office tower in Hong Kong, this marvel of prefabricated modular glass and steel is certainly one of the best engineered, owing its design to a collaboration between the architect Norman Foster and the firm Ove Arup.
I’ve been a fan of this concept ever since my design school days and just love the ‘inside out’ approach to placing all the support structures on the outside of the building.
Looking closely at this tower of glass and steel, I’m amazed not only by its complexity but also logic. Everything is there for a non decorative structural reason, and there in lies its beauty
