The Pawn

Watercolour painting of the iconic ‘Tong Lau’ style tenement building in Wan Chai locally known as ‘The Pawn’. Historically being an old pawn shop now renovated for commercial use by bars and restaurants. I worked from my own photograph that captures a moment in time of a quintessentail timeless Hong Kong street view, complete with urban traffic and the hussle and bustle of street level activities. I find it is the layers of detail in a HK street scene that appeal to me and which I chose to show here.
