Wan Chai House is the simple straight forward name of this prime example of a Hong Kong round cornered tenement building constructed in the late 1950’s. Located at the sharp intersection of Tai Wo Street and Wan Chai road and situated in the heart of a bustling market area, this dramatic looking building is perhaps more curved than most.
This was one of the first buildings that I sketched when I first restarted my art journey. This time I thought it was worth relooking again in at this building in a night time setting and use a more considered watercolour painting approach. This scene shows a wet and stormy evening as the market stalls start to pack up and commuters head home after buying their daily groceries.
